Make up for Laura Rhodes bridal accessories shoot

By 13 December, 2017Bridal

Laura Rhodes is a bridal jewellery and accessories designer based in Yorkshire. All of her pieces are delicately handmade and we were lucky enough to be the make-up artists for her newest collection.

Laura’s collection is inspired by summers spent in rural Yorkshire and the Greek isles. Laura’s style is timeless and elegant, every design has been sketched until perfected then beautifully hand crafted using only the finest and prettiest materials. Laura’s range covers bridal earrings, head pieces, necklaces, cuffs and rings. She also offers a bespoke service which is prefect for the creative bride who wants a unique piece for their wedding day.

On the morning of the photo shoot we had long a chat with Laura to discuss her vision of the shoot and what kind of make up would complement her designs. The jewellery being the main focus here we did not want to detract any attention from her beautiful pieces so we decided to start with a minimal and natural makeup keeping the skin luminous and clean.

We achieved this effect by patting our favourite highlighter for brides BECCA Cosmetics liquid Shimmering Skin Perfector to the highest points of the face; cheek bones, temple, nose, brow and cubits bow. We then intensified the glow in certain areas by adding a clear gloss on top.

For the eyes we added a taupe eye shadow over the entire lid including the lower lash line, our model already had amazing lashes so they only needed a few light coats of mascara. To finish the look we added a light sweep of the bronzer to the hollows of the cheeks and a neutral lip lipstick which was a similar colour to the models lips.

For the second look we only wanted to change the make up ever so slightly, we added some clear gloss to the eye lid to give it a beautiful sheen which subtly caught the light.

For the third and final look we added a feline flick to the eye which gave the eyes a bit more depth and definition.  We kept the lips topped up with the same colour  throughout the shoot, we decided to keep this neutral for each look so not draw attention away from the jewellery.

It really was such an enjoyable day and to be honest we had a very easy job with the beautiful model Hannah Murrell from Nevs Model agency, her features were so easy to work with and so was she. The rest of the team was made up of our friends and seriously talented individuals with Jess Withley working her magic behind the camera lens and Louise Leaves  from Love hair by Lou creating the stunning hair styles.
