Continuing on from our previous blog post on the history of the red lip, we thought it would be nice to share with you what red lipsticks makeup artists carry in their kits. We have asked some of our favorite makeup artists what their go to red lippy is and why. We have also added our personal favourites!

“I love this best selling Korean beauty lip tint from Peripera in shade hot-spot red. It’s richly formulated with mango oil and green tea seed oil to keep lips feeling moisturised and smooth all day. It has the most beautiful light as air texture which is highly pigmented, long lasting and gives a soft matte finish. I like to apply it to the center of my lips and gently spread outwards with my fingers to create a graduated blurred lip tint. It also looks great on the cheeks to give them a soft flush and tie the makeup look together.”

” Giorgio Armani’s Lip Maestro Liquid Lipstick in shade 300 is my current favourite red. I’ve not always been a massive fan of liquid lipsticks but this one is like no other. The formula is so creamy and unlike other liquid lipsticks, once this one has dried its still feels velvety soft and hydrating on the lips. I love this for my special occasion clients as its bold, long lasting and comfortable to wear “

‘‘ I love Ruby Woo, MAC’s iconic red on myself. It leaps off the canvas, has a real freshness and vibrancy and it’s matt texture is modern and wearable. It’s also easy to blur around the edges when I feel like wearing a softer finish‘’

“Bobbi Brown’s Art Stick in Uber Red. The Pigment is really dense so wears well throughout the day and feels bold. It can also be applied as a sheer stain with a little balm. This product will be relaunched this month or so with a new applicator.”
